A Bumpy Christmas?
We’re emerging from the other side of Christmas and New Year … and into 2025.
Some of us have been strong and consistent with our training over the last three or four weeks, and are entering 2025 in a good place, with fitness building nicely.
Others haven’t been quite so consistent – due to illness or simply due to a busy life.
For those athletes in the second category, my message to you is don’t panic! Don’t stress.
It is the start of January. Races are a long way off. There is so much time left to develop.
Keep The Faith!
You’re returning to training and you’ve done a few sessions.
It’s hard isn’t it?
You’re not as fit, as fast, as strong as you were before or hoped you would be at this point.
Mentally, that’s tough.
You feel like you’re miles away. You feel like throwing in the towel. Or trying to make up for lost time by going big.
My advice? Don’t do either!
Planning & Consistency
You need a proper plan. A plan to take you from where you are now to peak race day fitness. A training schedule to get you in the best possible condition for race day. Don’t do random. Don’t be sporadic with training.
Now is the time to put one session on top of another, on top of another, on top of another.
Fitness will come from one session at a time. You will improve by gradually stretching yourself. Cumulative efforts. Consistent training. Don’t be tempted to ‘go big or go home’. It will probably end in disaster!
So, just because you’ve had a rocky Christmas period, don’t give up or panic.
In the weeks and months ahead you will thank yourself for taking action now, committing yourself and going after those goals!
Support
If you feel like you would benefit from some support, message me and we can take it from there.
Christmas Fun!
