10 seconds. That’s how much one of our swimmers improved this week. Ten seconds over a 25m length!!
For a developing swimmer, what’s the best thing you can do to improve your swimming?
For me, my priority would be to improve your body position in the water. I start all my swim squads and technique focus blocks with this aim.
We had our first Swim Squad session with WRC Tri where we focused exclusively on body position. From my position on the poolside you could see some obvious improvements as the clock ticked on.
The swimmers have gone away and done some solo sessions, putting what we covered in the session into action.
Just by improving her body position, one of our swimmers did her fastest ever 25m … knocking TEN seconds off her previous best time! Ten!
That’s quite an improvement after just one session!
Conclusion? Keep body position high on your swim technique priority list!
