One to one sessions are great at making quick changes to a swimmers technique. You can see the improvement immediately. The athlete can feel the difference. The trick is to make the changes permanent, to take away the tips and implement them in their everyday swimming sessions.
With this in mind, it’s so good to receive feedback from swimmers a few weeks or months later, who have followed your advice, made changes to their swim technique and feel better in the water.
It’s even more amazing to get feedback like this 👇
- Swimmers who have made the technique changes
- Who now approach swimming in a different, more positive manner
- Who have improved their training methods
- Who absorb as much information as they can
- Who now look forward to swim training
- And as a result feel “better and calmer in the water”.
So, so good to hear.
Athlete Feedback
“I had a surprisingly good swim (1.34) – it may not seem it by the time and it’s not an official PB (about 7 mins over) but as the conditions were very similar to Lanza where I normally come out around 1.50, I’d say that’s a huge improvement.”
“And this is where I have to say a huge thanks to Bryan.”
“I know I’ve only had a couple of 1:1s with you but I genuinely believe they’ve contributed massively on the day – not only technique is improving but because I changed the way I trained as a result, your constant blogs and suggestions have been great reading and I tried implementing many of the things you were suggesting. I felt better and calmer in the water.”
Not only did this swimmer make some great improvements during our sessions, she took the advice away and continued to work on the tips. Whats more, the swim sessions (and associated guidance) helped her stay calm in the rough water of race day and still think about her swim technique – resulting in a super Ironman swim.
Brilliant!
