Swim Sessions: Threshold
Here are a selection of threshold-based sessions for you to have a look at.
If I had to describe threshold swimming, it would be holding a comfortably-hard (7/10) pace for anywhere between 1000 – 3000 metres.
It is a pace which feels relatively comfortable for a single rep, but proves challenging when doing a larger set.

The Grant Hackett Set
Is there a better swim set in swimming?

‘No Fatigue’ 100s
Swimming strong but staying fresh!

Broken 100s #1
This session plays around with rest intervals, asking you to swim strong with different amounts of rest.

Broken 100s #2
High pace, short rest!

Broken 100s #3
A fun third variation in the Broken 100s series

Threshold 100s – Reducing Rest
Hold a strong pace, but reduce the rest. It gets challenging!

All The 50s!
It is a good threshold type session – it will have you working hard, but the pace is (just about) sustainable.

Tight Rest 50s
A session where you are not swimming particularly fast, but the lack of rest takes it’s toll and your heart rate climbs through the set.

Broken 200s
Working hard over a variety of distances!
