Swim Squad Awards: “The Late Swimmer”

Reflecting on the year we’ve had in our Swim Squads and I thought it might be nice – and a bit of fun – to select a few categories where we could acknowledge swimmers progress and their contribution to our Squad life.

What do you reckon?

Any special categories we should consider?

The first award that I’ve thought long and hard about is ‘The Late Swimmer’.

🤷‍♂️ The Late Swimmer 🤷‍♂️

Most of our swimmers get to the pool a few minutes early, have a chat and a catch up – and then are lined up at the end of the lanes ready to go … all with a couple of minutes to spare. Brilliant.

Not all, however.

Some are not quite so punctual.

How often have we seen the sight of the swimmer who runs in, scrambles around in their bag for their swim cap and goggles and joins the warm up half way through?

There are a few contenders for this award.

3️⃣ Lisa, always with a smile and a “sorry”, but perhaps just not a fan of warm ups! “Work was mad” or “just running a bit late” often pop up on my messages shortly before sessions, giving me a heads up that I need to expect a late arrival.

2️⃣ Travelling in from Chester – and we applaud the effort each week – the length of the journey could be deemed a good reason for Sammie to arrive late from time to time. However, Sammie manages to arrive at exactly the same time each week, just a few minutes later than perhaps she should! 😀

1️⃣ ‘Just in time’ is the mantra of this couple. Why arrive with time to spare when you can screech into a parking spot, change quicker than Clark Kent and be (almost) ready for the warm up?

Every. Single. Session.

Yes, Jo & Jon pick up the award for this category!

Worthy winners!

😀
