Well how about this? A swimmer literally on the other side of the world being inspired by our Swim Squad – and swimming ‘brave’ as a result!
“In today’s benchmark test, I remembered a post you did recently where you talked about a swimmer who had progressed dramatically over a short period of time due to him being “brave” when doing the hard sets (https://triathlonswimsquad.com/2023/08/21/swim-success-story-how-can-i-get-faster/) Today I decided to be “brave” and trust in myself and my ability to hold the pace. I was super happy with the result and proved to myself that I can still do the harder stuff.”
This message was from an athlete who is following a long distance swim training plan we designed specifically for her.
Being brave and deciding to “trust in myself and my ability to hold the pace”. This is excellent. I have written before about the need for many of us to push ourselves more than we currently do in the water.
In the plan, we are looking to develop her swim – both from a strength and speed perspective – as well as her ability to swim long distances. Being brave will definitely help!
From my perspective, this swimmer is doing really well.
- Completing the sessions
- Changing her pace
- Pushing hard when necessary
- Consistent
- Enjoying her swimming
What does this swimmer think of the plan and the progress she is making?
“I am enjoying the sessions, and the accountability is certainly working, as there’s been a few times when I’ve not felt like going but know you’ll be looking for my completed session!”

Triathlon Training Plan Athlete
Similarly, I have another ‘Training Plan Athlete’ who wanted a triathlon training plan designing for him, something that fit into his busy life which he could follow and would help him reach the start line of his first Ironman 70.3 next year in super shape.
We had a catch up at our Swim Squad this week, where he told me that the structure is really working for him. Knowing what he is doing, what pace or effort level he needs to bring to the session, and the knowledge that each session and each week progresses into another has had a really positive effect on his training. He is motivated, is full of energy and can’t wait for his next sessions.
And he attributes all of that to the structure and guidance of his new training plan.
Amazing!
