The Athlete Experience

Athlete testimonials are powerful.

Recently, I asked a few of my athletes for some feedback, a testimonial giving a flavour of their experiences of being coached by me.

I’ve had some great ones come in – and I’m really grateful for my athletes for their time and their kind words. This one came in this week – it is one of the longer ones! – and I just had to share it!

The Testimonial

“Bryan and I started our relationship as coach and athlete two and a half years ago, when I set out to undertake an Ironman. I can honestly say I would not have been able to do it without Bryan as my coach.

Bryan comes as the whole package, bringing with him years of experience of tackling Ironman events leading up to his sub 10 hours, this is reflected in the very well structured and thought out plans. Bryan’s ability to tailor the plan to suit your individual needs has helped me massively, juggling shift work, and a young family.

I’ve learnt so much about endurance training and it’s been an Incredible journey!

Progress

🏊‍♂️ I couldn’t swim a length to begin with. Starting with a 2:20/100m now with a PB of 1:28/100m due to the inclusion of Bryan’s very purposeful swim squad sessions.

🏃‍♂️ I had never ran a marathon before, now completing two, I knocked off 30 minutes off my second effort (3.33)!

🚴‍♂️ I considered my bike discipline to be my strongest however starting with a 216W FTP and now sitting at 273W.

It is fair to say everything has just improved and more!”

Achievements

This year I raced my first Ironman (Ironman UK) and completed it Sub 14 hours (13.26) surpassing all my expectations, with an outlook to aim for sub 12 next time around. I can honestly say this would not have been achievable without Bryan and his coaching.

Bryan would upload the training block in advance using TrainingPeaks so you knew what was coming up and reshuffle the days or times to for your lifestyle.

Throughout the training I received honest, constructive and necessary feedback which was invaluable through this journey, making me a better triathlete day by day!

A Friendly Ear

Bryan is also my agony aunt too! He knows all too well the struggles, walls and barriers and he has this ability to break them down and give real perspective on issues, helping you overcome them and adapt your mentality and approach to keep you focused and keep making those improvements.

Bryan as a coach doesn’t just bring you the sessions, you also form part of a community of amazing and like minded people, and from my perspective that sort of thing is priceless.

For those considering taking on a coach, I know all too well how daunting it is and considering the cost implications, weighing the pros and cons! Having a coach is an investment in yourself.

And I could not recommend Bryan enough.

Great Value

I honestly believe you get so much value off Bryan, this is why I will continue with Bryan for future endeavours. I haven’t looked back since and can’t recommend him enough.

I have recommended Bryan to many people and know of athletes who have him as a coach now and improvements are off the scale!

Take the jump … I guarantee you won’t look back!”

Not sure what else there is to say there!

Amazing feedback from a great athlete and a great person.
