A swimmer had never broken 2 minutes for 100m and was looking for some help to make some kind of breakthrough. We arranged a 1-1 Swim Session.
▪️ We worked on body position – lifting the hips and legs and reducing drag.
▪️ We changed his hand entry – entering a bit wider, eliminating the crossover.
▪️ We focused on rhythm – introducing a short glide with each stroke, making swimming feel easier and each stroke more effective
Fifty minutes into the session, I asked the swimmer to do 100m trying to focus on the new technique points.
He touched the wall, I stopped the watch … 1.45.
22 strokes per length, instead of of the pre-session 29.
A great impact.
This morning, the swimmer got back in the water for a solo session – and sent me a message afterwards:
“Just would like to say thanks again for yesterday Bryan… Just come out the pool and for the first time not one 2:00/100m in sight.”
The photo with the swim splits told the story…
1.50, 1.50, 1.52, 1.49, 1.51, 1.51 …
“Thank you it’s been a massive help.”
