‘Operation-Build-Solid-Swim-Fitness’ Phase

It’s the last week of our general preparation / ‘operation-build-solid-swim-fitness’ phase this week.

It’s been fun hasn’t it?

Lots of strong 100’s, fast fifties, end of session 25s coupled with some pullbuoy & paddle work, some swimming with an ankle band, some focus on our stroke – particularly the propulsion on the pull. A sprinkling of longer distance reps in there too. Generally, some hard work.

Are we feeling good?

You bet!

We have a few weeks of sharpening to look forward to before we launch into a more race-specific block of work. This will incorporate some race-focused work such as pacing, judging intensity, race strategy and race skills, and will also include some ‘maintaining swim fitness’ work too. Some of our swimmers will be complementing this with some open water work in our group sessions at the Liverpool Watersports Centre.

And then we race!

Exciting times ahead for our swimmers.
