A few weeks ago I had a 1-1 swim session with a mother and daughter from St Helens Triathlon Club (so a 1-2 session really). Chris & Bethany were so keen to learn and absorb the feedback – it was a pleasure to deliver the session. Very different goals, very different swim technique (same number of strokes per length 🤷‍♂️) but some common areas to work on.
The session started with a general swim assessment. From that, we identified the main areas to improve for each swimmer.
We looked at improving hand entry, greater elbow bend on the catch, using the whole forearm as a paddle, the direction of the pull and generating greater propulsion.
They both looked great by the end of the session!
As a result, both swimmers now understand their main areas to work on, know how to improve and can now apply these skills in their future pool and open water sessions.
This was a one-off session, but we may meet up and do another session in the future to further improve their swim technique.
A very enjoyable hour of swimming!
