12 weeks ago, we launched two new Thursday Swim Squads – Development Squad and Performance Squad.
30 swimmers joined us, all looking for structure, guidance, and a way to move their swimming forward.
Week by week, we’ve worked on technique. Added intensity. Increased volume. And learned how to hold good swimming under pressure.
Last night marked the end of our second six-week block and the progress has been remarkable. Some of these swimmers look almost unrecognisable from the ones who started in week one.
- Stroke technique has changed.
- Confidence has grown.
- Paces have come down – in some cases, significantly.
Turning up, putting the work in, and trusting the process has produced some fantastic results.
I received this message from one of the swimmers last night:
“Hi Bryan, thanks again for all your help over the last 12 weeks. I’ve seen such a dramatic difference in my stroke & technique since the start and it’s put me in such a good place to enjoy swimming and achieve my goals. Just wanted to say a big thank you for your support.”
This is what can happen in 12 weeks with the right structure and support.
Personal Bests Galore!
We had a huge night in the Development Squad on our final night of the 12 week block – so many 100m personal bests falling across the group:
1:21
1:24
1:30
Multiple 1:40s
…and even a first time under 2 minutes
Twelve weeks ago, this squad started with a simple promise: improve technique, build efficiency, and swim faster.
This session was a timely reminder of what happens when swimmers commit to that process. A brilliant evening, and a lot of very well-earned results.
10 x 100m ‘Best Average’
On the same evening, our Performance Squad took on a ‘simple’ but demanding challenge:
10 x 100m Best Average.
Swim at the fastest pace you can just about sustain across all ten.
And they absolutely smashed it.
From the very first length, you could feel the intent.
The intensity was there straight away – this wasn’t a dip-the-toe-in kind of set. They were committed. They were pushing. They were racing the clock, themselves… and each other!
And the results?
Every swimmer averaged between 1:15 and 1:35 per 100m, with most holding under 1:30 across all ten reps.
That’s not just good swimming – that’s controlled, repeatable speed.
And, the bit I particularly enjoyed…
It’s not something we would have seen 12 weeks ago when this Squad first launched.
That’s progress.
Brilliant efforts from everyone involved.
