47 is the new 52!

How long would it take you to drop 5 seconds on a 50m effort? Weeks? Months?

During last nights 1-1 (1-2 really) session, I asked the swimmers to do a strong 50m effort before we made any changes to technique. 52 & 53 seconds.

We adjusted some technique, including more tension and more acceleration on the pull, and then later in the session repeated a 50m effort.

One of the swimmers surprised himself with a 5 second improvement!

47 seconds for his 50m is now his new ‘strong effort’.
