I do love a ‘Christmas’ themed swim session.
To be honest, they are usually based on the 12 Days of Christmas idea. And, because I’m a triathlete and want to get a solid swim in, these swims are always based on front crawl and always leave me feeling pretty exhausted!
I’m not saying these sessions aren’t fun, but a very specific type of fun!
😀
All of that said, I love this session and I would wholeheartedly recommend it to you.
It is the endurance-based Twelve Days of Christmas set. A 3,200m main set.
12 – 300m, 4 x 25m
11 – 275m, 4 x 25m
10 – 250m, 4 x 25m
9 – 225m, 4 x 25m
8 – 200m, 4 x 25m
7 – 175m, 4 x 25m
6 – 150m, 4 x 25m
5 – 125m, 4 x 25m
4 – 100m, 4 x 25m
3 – 75m, 4 x 25m
2 – 50m, 4 x 25m
1 – 25m, 4 x 25m
The ’12 Days of Christmas bit’ i.e. the 300m is always smooth, steady and consistent pace. The 4 x 25m should be ‘purposeful’ – not fast, but good technique and a little power.
In terms of rest intervals, keep it quite short. You are looking to recover a little on the 25m efforts rather than at the wall.
2 x 25m super easy to round it up to 3,200m.
I love it. Give it a try and I’m sure you will too!
If you do, message me and let me know how you get on?
