Staying Focused

More great feedback from our triathlete swimmers last night after a successful weekend of racing!

Over the last three or four months, Mark has been a regular at our Thursday evening group sessions. He has progressed so well in this time, coming from a non-swimmer background. In fact the first few sessions he swam in his football shorts!

Three or four months later and he’s a different swimmer.

He raced the Sandman Triathlon at the weekend and had the swim of his life! He started easy, staying relaxed, and gradually picked up the pace as the swim progressed. He had enormous satisfaction in feeling strong during the second half of the swim and flying past loads of other athletes. He then felt strong and confident as he started the bike leg.

He was telling me last night that the swim was the highlight of his day and the secret to his success was that he really focused on the work we’ve been doing in the pool recently, concentrating on propulsion and getting the most out of every arm stroke. He also took on board some of the pacing skills we’ve been working on which is why he finished so strongly.

Great work Mark!
