The Triple Crown: A Swimmer Story
“This weekend was the last big swim of the year and it was one I didn’t even have planned at the beginning of the year when I got in touch with you about a training plan.
We planned for the Manchester 5km, Coniston and Ullswater and the training plans were absolutely crucial for me to build my stamina technique and confidence and get over the line on each one of them. It’s that foundation that also got me over the line at Windermere this weekend and get me the triple crown which honestly if you asked me in January if I could achieve that I would have said no.
So basically I just want to say a big thank you for the programming and the one to ones that helped me get to where I am now. The online programming is great too, and will help me improve going forward.
So again thank you Bryan 😁🙏 “
It All Starts With A Plan
Peter approached me at the beginning of the year, asking for a 20 week training plan to help him prepare for the Coniston and Ullswater swims. He had a very limited background in swimming, only starting the previous summer (2023) after a knee injury! Open water swimming was even more of a new thing, starting with a few open water sessions in 2023.
As part of his preparations, we also had two one to one sessions – one in the pool to improve swim technique and one in the open water to focus on skills and confidence.
Once the Training Plan finished – and Coniston & Ullswater completed – Peter decided to continue working with us and subscribed to our Swim Squad Online programme. This programme has supported his swim technique and provided him with training sessions to do each week.
“I’m enjoying Swim Squad Online. It’s definitely the type of training I want now after the longer swims are done and the season is over. I feel like I’m getting a lot from the drills and the articles.”
He also entered the 11 mile Windermere swim – to complete the Triple Crown – and has used a mixture of his previous training plan and the Swim Squad Online swim sessions to help him prepare for this.
He has done so well, improving his swim technique, his swim pace and (obviously) his swim endurance.
And he now has the Triple Crown to show for it!
Brilliant efforts, Peter!
